Biography:Michelle Cruz Nourish, is graduate from Perth Amboy High School. Since age 15 she has been performing the art of spoken word. As a lover of literature she lives by the phrase, "All the world is a stage." Every classroom, living room, and street has a corner that has ears and an open mind will be taken. She was a finalist in the Statewide Spoken Word Competition with the theme "Power of the Vote" sponsored by Russell Simmons and Def Jam. Nourish performed at the 2005 Hip Hop Summit in Trenton on September 30, 2005. Also in her senior year, Nourish won the Martin Luther King Jr. Poetry Award & honors for high school students in New Jersey. She introduces an in your face style of poetry aswell as acting. If your ears are not listening, your mind and heart are. Her vibe is as diverse as her poetic teachings. Since graduating from Perth Amboy High School, Nourish has continued her education at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts where she was placed in advanced level acting courses within her first semester. Nourish has performed at The Perth Amboy Gallery, Fusion-Ti, Kean University, Culture Project, Port Africa and the legendary Nuyorican Poets Cafe and the list continues. In March of 06' Nourish became a member of NJ S.L.A.M which is an amazing youth orginization that is focused not only on the art of poetry but education aswell. April 25th 06' Nourish and her team attended The "Brave New Voices" event & returned internationally know. She is in the process of writing her first poetry book titled "Nourishing the Truth for the Poetic Youth", a PERSONAL & HUMBELING script. Nourish plans to make the most out of performing arts now and in the future, so keep an eye out for her progress.
