Born in Hong Kong, in 1995, Alison Chang moved to Canada when she was a year old. She was educated at Bayview Glen, and then at Havergal College in Toronto. Her interest in acting stemmed from her experiences in school musicals, and weekly family movie nights.
Since then, her passion for the arts has only grown. She has been on two global tours with her school choir, to Italy in 2009 and to Prague in 2013. One of the most notable concerts took place in the Basilica di San Marco (St. Mark's Baisilica), during mass. In 2010, she became the first sophmore to co-head the Improv club, and in 2013 was elected to become the inagural Arts Prefect at Havergal College. Through this experience, she headed the Havergal College Film Festival (HIFF) in honour of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) which showcased past and present student films. She introduced Karoke Fridays and used her network to support other arts events at other schools, like Upper Canada College and Crescent. Her Prefect career culminated in an arts week dedicated to showcasing music, theatre, and visual art, which kicked off with a musical number based off of Neil Patrick Harris' opening number for the 2011 Tony Awards.
In 2013, Alison starred in Cry Havoc, a play reflecting the terrors of war in Battan, where she played the lead role of Smitty. She was the recipient of the Rosemary Character award for her committment and leadership in the arts, the Best Drama Award for her dedication to theatre and the University of Toronto Book Award.
Currently, she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in acting at the University of Southern California. .
