Biography
Deep in the heart of Texas is where I’m from. I grew up on the side south of a city called Fort Worth. Yes, I have a hood story, but I would be writing forever if I was to tell you about it. Though, I can say, I am proud to be from the hood and I wouldn’t trade it for any other life style. The hood is what made me who I am and has helped me develop the drive to take risks and to consume every opportunity that comes my way.
When I was 18 years old the drive in me had grown much deeper. I wanted to do and have bigger and better things. I knew that staying in the hood would prohibit me from a promising future, so on July 1, 1998 I joined the United States Navy. While serving in the Navy, I met my long term friend, Willie Cochran. Willie was well known for singing. I would always ask him to sing for me no matter where we were at. During the Operation Enduring Freedom, we were aboard the USS John C. Stennis. Black History month had come around and Ships Company had decided to put on a talent show. I was well known for writing poetry, so I wanted to write a series of poems in dedication of Black History. But, Willie had suggested that I should write a song instead. I was skeptical and doubtful at first, but I decided to try it. After putting in many hours, we finally finished our first master piece and named it “Mahogany Queen.” We performed it and the reaction from the crowd was phenomenal. After the show, people asked if we were going to do an entire CD. We looked at each other and responded “yeah!” Immediately we begin working on our second song. Since our first song was a ballet, we wanted this song to be more up tempo. That is when I first started rapping.
After 5 years of being in the Navy, I discharged and returned home in February 2003. The following October I attended the Grambling and Prairie View College football game at the state fair in Dallas, Texas. There is where I met the R/B group called “BWP” which stands for Brothers With Potential. They needed someone to promote for them in the Dallas area, so being that I was a fan, I figured it was my duty. Through promoting for them, I met many people in the industry. One person, in particular, was the CEO of a studio called “Nations Rhythm Entertainment.” I collaborated with his company and started promoting other artists as well. Because the company was fairly new, the general manager figured we needed more publicity. So he hooked the artist and staff up with an agent to book us T.V. shows, commercials, or whatever. Just so happened the agent connected me with more gigs than everyone else. That is when I first start acting. At first, I wasn’t into the acting thing until I start getting phone calls from friends all over the country. They would call and say “I seen you on T.V.!” and “Why you didn’t tell me you were going to be on T.V.?” or “I have you in my magazine!”
The magazine is what really got me excited. People were telling me they had seen my pictures everywhere, in magazines, brochures, training guides, and the internet. Finally, that is when I realized I should pursue modeling and acting. I had too much talent to be wasting. I knew I would need training, so I enrolled at KD Studio Actors Conservatory College to enhance my skills and increase my knowledge about the industry. Now here I am fully blossomed and ready for action. So, for all of you in the industry that reads this, make room because the next Academy Award winner is coming your way.
