My Biography
On August 5, 1978, a star was born. His name is Abdul-Rahmaan Houser. The firstborn child of a young couple, they realized that he can fill an audience with just his presence. So, he tried acting in elementary school plays. Every year, the school would have a play in honor of Black History Month. All the teachers would want him to play Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. He never knew why himself. Maybe all the teachers saw a lot of King in him because he had almost the same qualities as King did. He loved to act on stage. After watching Denzel Washington in “Malcolm X”, His admiration for the art of drama inspired him a lot more to try it out again. He skipped that in high school because he wanted to focus more on his schoolwork, but after he graduated he wanted to go all out. It all came back to him when he played the young Ebenezer Scrooge in “The Newark Christmas carol”, ages 7 and 18 in 1996. The following year, he played the Tin man in “The Wizardess of Oz”. He really loved Children’s Theater. In 2003, he landed the role of Rodney, the ex-boyfriend, in a play titled “Sweat of the Heart”. The play ran through Mother’s Day weekend of 2003. It was a bit part, but he loved it anyway. His next role, however, was not fitting for him. As Andre, the gang leader, in “One Out of Seven”, he was really frustrated with the play and the character. This was in July 2003. He went on to Bloomfield College to pursue a degree in Dramatic arts in 2005. He was immediately chosen for the role of a couch potato in a winter production called "Pressure", a parody of reality television and game shows. The next production in Spring 2006 was " Monologues, Scenes and Stuff". His monologue was very true to life. It's based on his life and experiences growing up in the Central Ward and Weequahic areas of Newark, NJ. It was about doing what works for oneself and this is what works for him. Ever since then, he has tried and failed to get into acting, but he has not given up on his dream, which is to break out on TV, commercials and the movies. He’s now ready to make a mark on the entertainment industry. Look out world, because Abdul-Rahmaan Houser is going to explode in many different ways and he wants everyone to witness the explosive evolution of an actor who's ready for the ultimate challenge.
