My name is Shamiqua Mason I was born July 15th 1983 the hottest day of the summer. I was born in Hempstead, Long Island but I grew up mostly in Buffalo, New York where I currently reside. I graduated from Turner/Carroll High school in 2001 where I'm mostly known for the records I shattered in track and field. Back then singing was just for fun never really thought it was for me. I started singing when I was younger my sister and I performed a lot in church when we lived in Tennesse that's where we got our soul from but I was into sports so to me singing was her thing. My grandmother felt I had a gift though so she would teach me gospel songs all the time and we would sing them over and over. It wasn't until I was frequently asked to preform for local events that I saw what she meant. Everytime I sing now I think of every little thing my grandmother taught me before she went to heaven. I know she would be proud to know that I'm actually singing. My friends and family call me Mimi my grandmother gave me that name when I was born. So i keep my day filled with things to do I love to sing, model and play sports. Life would be so diffrent without those things so I'm grateful that I can participate.
