KANIKA CHADDA’S BIO:
Kanika was born in Mumbai, India and raised in Gaithersburg, Maryland. She earned her B.A. in International Relations from Boston University and her M.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Miami. She worked as an anchor for UMTV's "NewsVision" and an Entertainment Correspondent for "Canes Gone Crazy." She is the host of DCTV's comedy show "Somebody's Shorts." She previously worked as a television host for “Darshan TV” (MHz Networks) in Washington DC.
Kanika has undergone 15 years of training in Kuchipudi Indian Classical dance and has also trained under Shiamak Davar’s Institute of Peforming Arts (SDIPA) in Bollywood Fusion. She was a member of Pooja Narang's “Bollywood Axion” dance troupe in New York. In 2006, Kanika traveled as a dance performer for a series of cruises hosted by “Music Masala” journeying to Nova Scotia, Europe, and the Caribbean.
She modeled with Elite Model Management in Mumbai and was featured in magazines and television commercials for Seventeen, Elle, New Woman, and Indiawali Brides. She acted in Karma, Confessions, and Holi, a cross-over film directed by Manish Gupta/produced by Drena DeNiro featuring Sushmita Sen, Randip Hooda, and Naomi Campbell.
Kanika was crowned Miss India East Coast 2006 in Oakland, CA. She won the FACE Model Search at the South Asian Students Association conference in Houston, TX in 2004. She is an active member of the International Radio & Television Society and South Asian Journalists Association. She hopes to further her career as a reporter covering local news and investigative feature stories.
