Plot Summary
Afia is a story about a misunderstood 9-year-old girl, whose unusual confrontational antics get her kicked out of private school. Sent to public school, she must go head-to-head with resident bully who torments kids on a whole other level. Synopsis: Afia Thompson, the uniform clad schoolgirl finally strikes out, and becomes the first 9 year-old student to get kicked out of St. Louis Frederique’s Private School of French Immersion. After a few questionable altercations with other student’s the faculty finally decides to relocate Afia to an environment that is more suited for her, public school. Afia is happy and ready for a new environment, different people, and of course the freedom to wear whatever she wants. Plus she wants the chance to prove to her parents that she not just a ‘bad case’. Yes, Afia is what some would call a bully, but her plans are to reform, to be the good one this time, but of course, in paradise there is always another bully, Big Tony is what they call him. Being the brave girl that she is, Afia saves Tobias and George; her newfound friends from Tony only to wind up in trouble herself. Afia confronts Tony the way most fearless girls would; screaming, and kicking, but Tony is like no other bully, he’s smart, quiet and it doesn’t hurt that he has an impeccable student record. Unfortunately Afia hasn’t learned the ins and outs of being a bully at the public school level, and gets herself in trouble with the school authorities at the hands of Tony on more then one occasion. Afia decides that she needs to deal with Tony once and for all. Afia, George, and Tobias devise an intricate plan to dethrone the king of all bullies. They confront Tony in a way that he never expects. They use his own scheme to beat him at his own game. For the first time Afia takes all the advice she gets from her parents, teachers, friends and even a little something she learns from the public school bully, and puts it to good use.
