<p> Hi guys!</p> <p> So right I just wanted to talk a little bit about an experience I've had. So for those who have read my other blog on here you know I found my passion again. Someone though had seen me a while ago and remembered I loved to act. It's been a while because I had initially forgot about the person to be honest. But honestly who actually remebers everyone they meet? Anyway before I steer of topic, he contacted me recently offering to help further my career. Charles Williams of artsnfilm had a website, well its so hard to remember (hahaha) artsnfim.com. The site is for the sole purpose of connecting to others in the field especially those who are just starting out. It has everything from graphic designers, to actors and actresses, directors, and make up artists. I not only keep twice as much updated on there but I get a chance to connect talk, learn and help take part in other projects. As a film student also I have the opportunity to bring skills I've learned to helping and giving advise to others. I have even helped as a script advisor with another person and he was helping with my short film. Which I couldn't move on past the rough draft due to technical issues.</p> <p> Let me get back on topic I would ask that those who actually read my blogs to go join and start building up an even larger network. Well because this business often is more of who you know rather than where you are at the time. I hope you guys will at least take the time to check out the site, and hopefully join. The creators of the site are on there constantly posting different place for casting and availablities. If you are starting out and interested in doing more than just acting they provide internships, jobs, and other ways of getting into the business.</p> <p> Thank you!</p> <p> HB</p>

<p> One of the things that I have experienced as an actor, an unrepresented actor, especially, is the power of networking. Not going out there with the intention of meeting the right person with the right connection who will 'discover' you or 'commission' you but with the attitude of making allies! </p> <p> Read an interview with one of my most recent allies <a href="http://catchingsightfilm.blogspot.com.au/2013/09/falling-down-to-depths-of-hell-makes.html">HERE</a>!</p> <p> Having allies in this business is vitally important. They like your FB page, view your show-reel, support you on YouTube, write your endorsements and reviews, share your projects, donate on Pozible, attend your events and you, my friend, do the same!</p> <p> This is all just my experiential perspective. Not necessarily the god's truth (I'm an atheist, incidentally) but some ideas that you might enjoy laughing at or benefit from! Who knows, certainly not me! </p> <p> As I was saying, make allies! It's not hard. Just be open to new opportunities and new people. Everyone is just as friendly and insecure as you are. It's not really a risk putting yourself out there on forums and saying, "People, I exist and I would like some company on this scary ride called 'show business.' The worst that can happen is that no one bites that time. Keep trying. If you don't try you have a 100% failure rate. Keep trying!</p> <p> I send out cold introductions with my showreel and head shot to agents, directors, casting directors, writers and filmmakers. Most of them probably never get read. Most of the read emails never receive a response. Most of the responses are rejections. But every now and again, months after I've sent the email, I get a surprise in my inbox from some obscure filmmaker saying, "I got your email, yes, please, I need you!" </p> <p> Is there a better feeling in the world?</p> <p> Now imagine if you could do this without getting your IP address and mail servor put on spam lists, unfairly or not! Well, you can! Make friends here! And then go over to Stage32, register and post an introduction this weekend! You'll make friends and connections wth like-minded professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world. Who knows what opportunities these connections could present. </p> <p> Rather than being competitive, let's be cooperative! As actors and artists we can only do so much and the chance of being successful has very little to do with our talent and suitability as it does with our persistence and exposure. The more people that know you, the more opportunities that will present themselves. Don't hold out for THE oppportunity, or THE connection! What we have to understand is that there are no limitations, and social media integration, can place you in the same neighborhood as someone with millions of dollars, so don't limit yourself to do it yourself projects , while that has worked for some , who do the coaches pick to play , the guy that just walked on , NO we here stories like that every now and then. but for the most part it is the guy or girl who"s parents sent them to every camp they could fine, these coaches have seen films of the kids since they were pee wees , what am I saying these kids turn into adults with credits, and all you have is a do it yourself project , over 2000 men from ALL OVER THE COUN<span class="text_exposed_show" style="display: inline; ">TRY are headed for the pros every year, only a hand full even make it to the NBA or the NFL , and guess what all of them are professionally trained, how far do you think one can get with a do it yourself project, in a virtual world where IMAGE IS EVERYTHING.Whatever you do don't give up , but at least consider why you are not famous, and you think you should be, change your approach, if you are going to be in the neighborhood with the big boys, then you may want to step your game up , increase your value by changing your perspective , and finally just because you drive a Chrysler 300 with a B on it and it looks like a Bentley, doesn't give an increased value on your car in most cases it actually decreases the value , so get some real credits , unless you become a product developed , you can never be an artist developed.
